Biography
Yaochu Jin received the B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees
in electrical engineering from
Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China in 1988, 1990 and 1996 respectively.
In 2001, he received the Doctor's degree (Dr.-Ing.) from
the Institut für Neuroinformatik and the
Electrical and Computer Engineering Department,
Ruhr Universität Bochum,
Germany.
In 1991, he joined the Electrical
Engineering Department, Zhejiang University as a Teaching Assistant,
where he became an Associate Professor in 1996. He was a visiting scholar
supported by a scholarship from the Ministry of Education of China
and then a researcher at the Institut für Neuroinformatik,
Ruhr Universität
Bochum, Bochum, Germany during 1996-1998. He was a Postdoctoral Associate
with the Industrial Engineering Department, Rutgers, the State University of
New Jersey, Piscataway, NJ from 1998-1999. From 1999 to 2002,
he was with the Future Technology Research Division, Honda R&D Europe,
Offenbach, Germany. Currently, he is a Principal Scientist at
Honda Research Institute Europe, Offenbach, Germany.
He has published two books ( Theory and Applications of Intelligent
Control, Henan Science and Technology Publishing House, Zhenzhou, 1995;
Advanced Fuzzy Systems Design and Applications, Physica-Verlag,
Heidelberg, 2002) and more than 50 technical papers.
His research interests include fuzzy systems, neural networks, evolutionary
computation, systems control, optimization and their application to
robotics, intelligent vehicle systems, process and industrial control,
structural design and self-organization of complex systems.
Dr. Jin is an Associate Editor of
IEEE Transactions on Control Systems Technology, was
a Guest Editor of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics's
Special Issue on "Soft Computing Techniques in Intelligent Vehicle Systems".
He is a member of the IASTED
Technical Committee on Soft Computing.
Dr. Jin is a
Senior Member of IEEE, including in the
Control Systems Society, the Industrial Electronics Society, and the Systems, Man
and Cybernetics Society,
a member of the
International Society of Genetic and Evolutionary Computation, and a member of the Chinese Astrological Animals (Horse).
